AkiMCP 3.0: drive AIObox, mandatory receipt, stdio mode

AkiMCP 3.0.0, released on 7 October 2026, is a major release because tool definitions changed and chrome_launch no longer clones browser profiles. After updating, reconnect AkiMCP in every client; Claude asks Always allow again for the tools that changed.

Which tools let AkiMCP drive AIObox?

Two tools, aki__aiobox and aki__aiobox_write, forward any AIObox operation, where op is a free string routed by the table AIObox publishes. AkiMCP itself knows exactly one op, state, and it still answers when AIObox is closed. Every call ends within 50 seconds, even on a frozen tab, so a client does not give up after about a minute and get nothing back.

What does the mandatory receipt mean?

Every tool that acts needs a receipt from aki__akidevrule_context, and a tool that touches a project first hands over that project's rules. The reason: an AI that skipped loading the rules could still run commands. Every tool also declares MCP annotations, and 17 of the 38 tools are read-only, so ChatGPT stops asking to confirm them while any tool that can write still asks.

Does the tool-call log store my data?

The log records the time, client, tool name and op, but not the call's arguments. The panel has section 9 to browse it, and npm run tool-calls reports the success rate of AIs driving AIObox.

How do Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Notion and Gemini connect?

akimcp --stdio serves the tools over stdin and stdout with no gateway, tunnel or token, and has an MCP Registry record. chrome_launch now opens the profile clones shared with AIObox instead of cloning its own, and drops refresh.
